The following patients are regarded as infective risks, and require isolation:

Methicillan Resistant Staph. AureusVancomycin Resistant EntercoccusMulti-resistant gram negative organismsProven / suspected meningococcal disease until 24 hours of completed antibiotic treatmentBurns patientsFebrile neutropaenic patientsHigh risk immunosuppressed patients
Gowns and glove must be used for each person entering the cubicle (including visitors), and disposed of within the cubicle / room before leaving. Attending nurses may use one gown per shift, provided it remains within the cubicle / room.
Once the patient has been transferred or discharged, the area should remain vacant until appropriately cleaned in accordance with policy.
