Intra-Hospital Patient Transport

No patient may be transported from Intensive Care without the direction of the Duty Intensive Care Specialist

Medical escort is the rule.  In a minority of circumstances, a nurse escort may be sufficient, providing it is acceptable to the Duty Intensive Care Specialist and the duty ACNM.

Intensive Care Registrars may only perform patient escort to radiology for CT scans once they have completed an in-service accreditation.

Transport to MRI or DSA requires an anaesthetic escort.
