The Canterbury DHB Older Person's Health Specialist Service (OPHSS) is mainly based at Burwood Hospital in Christchurch.
OPHSS consists of three specialist services to cater for the unique needs of older people as well as managing the Canterbury DHB Community Dental Services.
Older Person's Health Specialist Service (OPHSS) caters to persons living within the Canterbury DHB geographical area who are aged 65 years and over, as well as persons 50-65 years with dementia or deemed ‘close in interest’ and approved by the Clinical Team.
Care is delivered using the Interdisciplinary Team approach and includes; Dieticians, Geriatricians, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers and Speech Language Therapists. The three services are supported by, and integrate with each team as required to seamlessly coordinate patient care.
