What We Do
The Workforce Development Teams, Professional Development Unit (PDU) and the Clinical Skills Unit (CSU) are delighted to be in the final stages of relocation preparation for the move into the brand new Health Research Education Facility (HREF).
HREF will see all of the Canterbury-focussed professional development, workforce and simulation teams from the DHB co-locating with over 2000 Ara staff and students, and academics and students from some of the University of Canterbury health sciences. This is a truly transformative opportunity to make the Canterbury Health System, already highly regarded in New Zealand and internationally, more collaborative than ever before.
Its location next to Christchurch Hospital will place HREF in the heart of the Health Precinct (Te Papa Hauora). The vision for the precinct was first developed after the 2011 earthquakes.
The developing precinct brings together researchers, academics, students and clinicians into one central space, all contributing to a vibrant, stimulating and productive environment. Its key consumers will be inter-professional health groups, primary and community health staff, emergency services staff, as well as working closely with South Island-wide health teams.
More than 75 Canterbury DHB staff will be relocating from Christchurch Hospital and 32 Oxford Terrace to the new integrated facility. The move is planned for late June 2018.
A Facebook page for HREF will be launched very soon to keep you up to date with the happenings.
